The Ohio Valley League has added an 11th team for the 2022 summer wooden bat season and released the schedule for the 40-game regular season.

The Louisville Jockeys become the latest team to join the stable of OVL franchises. In an early Tuesday release, OVL President John Bruce said the division realignment for the 11 teams will be announced after Thanksgiving.

The 2022 season will begin on Wednesday, June 1, and end on Sunday, July 31.  Each team will play 40 games and play a weighted division schedule.

The Hoptown Hoppers will open the 2022 season on Thursday, June 2 against defending OVL champion Dubois County. Six of Hoptown’s first nine games will be on the road.  The league will play several neutral site games. On Saturday, June 18, Paducah will play Owensboro in Marion as a nod to the Marion Bobcats being one of the founding members of the OVL before relocating to Muhlenberg County.

Hoptown will play the Full County Rhythm at Hot Rods Stadium in Bowling Green on Saturday, June 25. That game will be the second half of a doubleheader with Franklin playing Owensboro in the opener.

The Hoppers will likely play five home games during the expected dates of the 2022 Western Kentucky State Fair and will play on the road on both July 3 and 4. Hoptown will host Franklin on Saturday, July 2.
