The 2021 LPGA Tour regular season concluded with the end of the Pelican Women’s Championship, with 100 players locking up their LPGA Tour cards and status for the 2022 season.

LPGA Tour players compete throughout the season in the Race to the CME Globe, working to earn one of the coveted 60 berths in the CME Group Tour Championship, conducted annually at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla.

With a No. 61 finish in that points race, Caldwell County grad Emma Talley has earned her tour card for next season and has squeezed into this week’s CME Group Tour Championship.

Only players finishing in the top 100 in Race to the CME Globe points retain their cards. For the first time, ranking on the money list doesn’t matter.

Talley will be in one of the last group’s to tee off in Thursday’s first round. She will begin on No. 10 at 9:15 a.m. Eastern time. Her playing partners are Wichanee Meechai and Jenny Coleman.

All 60 players in this week’s field will compete in a 72-hole, no-cut competition. The event has $5 million purse with $1.5 million winner’s prize, which is the largest in women’s golf.
