Kaitlyn Zieba has one of the calmest demeanors you’ll find on a golf course. When she comes off the 18th hole, you don’t know if she shot a 68 or a 98. The Madisonville-North Hopkins senior parlayed her even-keel play into a scholarship offer from Murray State University, which she signed Wednesday.
Zieba was named All-Region and First-Team All-State by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association after a senior season that saw her rack up nine top-five finishes at invitational tournaments, including second-place finishes at the Madisonville Invitational, the Barren County Invitational, and at Bullitt East.
Zieba won the region golf title and finished tied for 18th at the state tournament in Bowling Green.
As a junior, Zieba finished second at the region tournament and tied for 16th at the KHSAA State Tournament. In addition to several top-10 finishes, Zieba finished 22nd at the prestigious All-State Tournament.
Zieba is a 3.9 GPA student who plans to study business at Murray State.
