Not only is Barion Brown a five-star recruit but he is also the highest-rated skill player to ever commit to Kentucky. The Nashville receiver is ranked as a top 150 player nationally and is the No. 4 overall recruit in the state of Tennessee. At least one recruiting service has him as a top 15 player nationally.
He picked the Wildcats over Alabama, Texas Christian, Mississippi and others.
The 6-1 Brown has been timed in 10.49 seconds in the 100-meter dash but recruiting analysts also like his ability to make physical, acrobatic catches in traffic.
Brown’s commitment Wednesday came just a few hours after more reports surfaced that UK coach Mark Stoops was one of the top candidates for the vacant job at LSU — speculation that Brown clearly did not buy since he committed to Kentucky.
Kentucky has upgraded its receiving talent in the last few weeks. Syracuse transfer Taj Harris— he had over 2,000 yards receiving in college — committed to UK after putting his name in the transfer portal and four-star Frederick Douglass star Dane Key — the state’s top-ranked recruit — also verbally committed to Kentucky. Before that, the Cats got commits from two receivers — Brandon White of Cincinnati and Jordan Anthony of Mississippi — with elite speed. Both are three-star players.

This is one reason I don’t see Stoops leaving. Even there’s been speculation by news that LSU has gotten louder knocking on his door.
Great news, great talent! I am looking forward to seeing this young man play. He is much needed.
