The Lyon County Lyons appear ready for the 2021-2022 basketball season to get underway. Led by a record-setting 49 points from Travis Perry, the Lyons rolled to a 104-74 win over Paintsville in the preseason ZipZone Classic at Martin County High School.

The Lyons Blitzed the Tigers 36-16 in the opening quarter, as Perry lit it up for 18 points. Paintsville did a better job at slowing down Perry and the Lyons in the second quarter, as they were able to trim the lead to 49-37 at the break.

But that would essentially be the end of the threat from Paintsville. Perry would heat up again for 18 points in the third quarter and Jackson Shoulders would add 8 of his own, as the Lyons pushed the lead back out to 74-57 after the third.

The Lyons would then put the game away with a 30 point 4th quarter to run the final margin out to 30 points.

Travis Perry’s 49 points set an all-time scoring record for the Zip Zone Classic. Three other Lyons reached double figures. Jackson Shoulders, Jack Reddick, and Brady Shoulders all scored 15 points each.

The Lyons will officially get the season going Tuesday night on the road at Hopkins County Central.
