Trigg County set out to accomplish what they wanted in its season opener Monday as the Wildcats rolled to a 52-30 win over Logan County. It was the fewest number of points allowed in a season opener by a Trigg team since an 80-22 win in the 2013 opener over Dawson Springs.

The Wildcats lead wire to wire, jumping out to a 6-0 lead and extending it to 23-19 by halftime. The Wildcats outscored the Cougars 15-5 in the third quarter to seal the win.

Jhaden Vaughn led the Wildcats with 12 points and five rebounds. He hit all five of his shot attempts inside the arc and had two steals. Kendric Adams added 10 points and three rebounds before leaving late in the game with an eye injury after he was poked in the face inadvertently by a Logan County player.

Hunter Reynolds knocked down a pair of three-pointers and finished with eight points, and Khyran Vaughn added six points six rebounds.

The Wildcats did a good job of taking care of the basketball, committing only six turnovers while scoring 19 points off 17 Logan County miscues.

Nathaniel Petrie lead the Cougars with seven points and Collin Williams added six.

Trigg County will return to action Saturday at Wildcat Gym against McLean County. The game was originally scheduled for 1:30, but the varsity game has been moved to a 3:30 start.
