With the start of the new basketball season, the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons are looking to put an end to a couple of streaks. One that for sure will end when they take to the court for the first time. The other, they are hoping to end early in the 2021-2022 season.

First off, the Lady Falcons have not played a game since their loss to Hopkinsville in the 8th District tournament on February 24, 2020. That was just a couple of weeks before the lockdown in the early days of the pandemic. Due to DoDEA COVID-19 protocols, Fort Campbell was not allowed to play basketball during the 2020-2021 season.

That is the streak that is going to end.

Then, there is “the streak.” The last time the Fort Campbell Lady Falcons won a basketball game was back on February 5, 2016, when they beat Trigg County 69-65. Since that time, the Lady Falcons have dropped 106 consecutive.

Fort Campbell appeared ready to end that streak last season. With Larry Dixon at the helm, and some talented newcomers in the program, the Lady Falcons would have likely put that string to bed early in the season. However, that never got the chance to happen.

The Lady Falcons will be a team full of fresh faces in 2021-2022. Only one player that saw action during the 2019-2020 season is on the roster for Fort Campbell at the beginning of this new season.

Arianna McDaniel saw action in eleven games for the Lady Falcons in 2019-2020. She finished the year averaging 2.5 points and 2.1 rebounds per contest, and she knocked down five shots from behind the arc on the season.

For the Lady Falcons, it is simply a matter of getting players out, getting them experience on the court, and getting the girls used to winning again. There will be opportunities early in the year for the Lady Falcons to pick up and win and start building some confidence. Taking advantage of those opportunities will be key.

Larry Dixon will guide the Lady Falcons in his second season on the bench for Fort Campbell.

In addition to their 8th District contests, the Lady Falcons will take on Heritage Christian, Livingston Central, Dawson Springs, Fulton City, and Fort Knox over the course of the season.

The Lady Falcons are set to tip things off Tuesday night on the road at Pleasant View Christian.
