Webster Uses Balanced Effort to Turn Back Panthers

Webster County used a balanced scoring attack to turn back Dawson Springs 86-53 Monday night in season-opening basketball action in Dixon.

Bradin Nelson had 14 points while Noah Duncan added 13 for the Trojans, who led 23-16 after one quarter and 46-30 at halftime.

Webster stretched its advantage to 70-40 through three periods.

The Trojans also got 11 points from Markus Austin, 10 from Aaron Harmon and nine apiece from DeShawn Murphy and Evan Michalek.

Dawson Springs got a double-double from Rett Nieters, who tallied 20 points and 11 rebounds in the contest. Gummie Johnston just missed scoring in double figures with nine points.

The teams came together for a prayer at midcourt following the contest.

Former Panther Logan McKnight, a 2021 Dawson Springs graduate, was killed in an automobile accident last week. His funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Dawson Springs gymnasium.

The Panthers will travel to Christian Fellowship School in Briensburg on Tuesday while Webster next visits Owensboro Apollo on Friday.
