Colby Tate’s Big Night Leads Falcons to Win in Opener

After not playing during the COVID shortened 2021 season, the Fort Campbell Falcons came out flying to start the 2021-2022 basketball season. The Falcons opened fast and used that quick start to lead them to a 60-50 win on the road at Pleasant View Christian Tuesday night.

Colby Tate came out clicking and scored nine points in the opening quarter as the Falcons took the 18-7 lead.

After taking the Falcons’ opening shot, Pleasant View Christian battled back in the second quarter to get back in the game. By the half, they had cut the Fort Campbell lead down to 29-25. Colby Tate scored six more points in the second quarter to bring his first-half total to 15 for Fort Campbell.

Pleasant View did a better job containing Tate in the third quarter, but they let Aidan Blaszkowski get open instead. Blaszkowski scored nine points in the third on three three-pointers as the Falcons inched the lead out to 41-35 heading into the final eight minutes.

Tate, Blaszkowski, and Amari Waddy all had big fourth quarters the Falcons went on to take the ten-point win. The trio combined to score 15 points in the fourth quarter and knock down 4-4 free throws to help secure the Falcons’ first win since February 21, 2020.

Colby Tate led the way for the Falcons with 22 points. Aidan Blaszkowski also reached double figures with 17. Tahlil Strayhorn had a solid night for the Falcons, finishing with 6 points and 9 rebounds.

The Falcons will look to make it two in a row to open the season when they host Clarksville Christian on Friday night.
