The Christian County girls’ basketball team hit the road on Saturday to play in the Independence Bank Tip-Off Classic at Owensboro Catholic, finding a lid on the basket in the 2nd half of a 61-36 loss to Elizabethtown.

After opening the season with a victory, the Lady Colonels have dropped two straight ahead of a trip to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Tuesday.

Sarah Clark scored eight in the 1st quarter, and Brooklyn Cann and Brooklyn Brown combined for nine, to give the Panthers a 20-7 lead after one.

The Lady Colonels found their comfort zone in the 2nd quarter behind nine points for Mikayah Killebrew.  Shaniah Bridges added four and Christian County outscored E-Town 18-15 for a 35-25 Panther lead at the break.

While the Lady Colonel offense wasn’t exactly flying high in the 1st half, it ground to a halt after halftime.  Sarah Clark outscored Christian County on her own with seven points in the 3rd, and the Panthers took a 20-point cushion into the 4th quarter.

Christian County’s NeVaeh Day scored four of her six points over the final eight minutes but the Lady Colonels couldn’t climb back into the game.
