Lady Warriors Go 1-2 at KCAA Holiday Classic

Heritage Christian Academy got season highs in scoring from Bailey Craft and Rachel Robson as they opened play in the KCAA Holiday Classic with a 32-19 win over North Hardin Classical Friday.

Heritage came into the tournament as the No. 4 seed, while North Hardin was the No. 5 seed.

Craft scored six of her 15 points in the third quarter as the Lady Warriors used a 12-4 run to extend what was a three-point halftime lead. She added eight rebounds.

Robson scored seven points and handed out three assists, and Hallie Zieg added four points and six rebounds. Tori Sutton led the Lady Warriors on the glass with 11 rebounds.

Oak Ridge flexed its muscles in showing why they are the favorite to repeat as Kentucky Christian Athletic Association state champs. Hannah Burden scored 30 points to lead Oak Ridge over HCA 62-24 in the second round of the KCAA Holiday Classic Saturday in Louisville.

Burden hit five 3-pointers and scored 16 of Oak Ridge’s 22 second quarter points.  Jersy Alford added 17 points for top seed Oak Ridge, who cruised to the tournament title.

Hallie Zieg led the Lady Warriors with eight points and eight rebounds. Tori Sutton had her second straight double-digit rebounding performance with 10 boards and two points. Bailey Craft added six points and eight rebounds.

In the consolation bracket, Heritage Christian fell to No. 3 Community 40-33.

The Lady Warriors fell behind 21-6 after one quarter but outscored Community 21-13 in the second half.

Bailey Craft had another monster game for Heritage with 13 points and 12 rebounds, giving her 34 points and 28 rebounds in the three tourney games.

Hallie Zieg knocked down four 3-pointer and finished with 14 points and six rebounds.

Heritage Christian will host Northside Baptist of Mayfield Thursday at Warrior Gym.
