Just when it looked like Webster County was getting back in, Lyon County put together a big run to put the game away.

The visiting Trojans trimmed a 15-point deficit to 66-60 following a 3-pointer by Markus Austin with just under 5 minutes to play.

However, Travis Perry countered with a short jumper at the other end, then buried a 3 of his own to quickly push the margin back to double figures at 71-60.

That started a 17-3 run, as Lyon held Webster (3-1) to just one field goal in the final 4:30 of the game.

By the time Corey Cissell scored from in close with 18 seconds left, Lyon had a 20-point lead at 83-63.

The Lyons (2-1) would post an 83-64 victory Monday night in Eddyville.

Bradin Nelson’s 3 at the 2:57 mark was Webster’s only field goal down the stretch.

The Lyons used a balanced effort, led by Perry’s 24 points, with nine of that coming in the final frame.
Jack Reddick added 18 points while Jackson Shoulders had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Nick Whalin tossed in eight points. Brady Shoulders had 13 rebounds to go with seven points.

Nelson had 23 points to pace Webster. DeShawn Murphy and Markus Austin each had 13 while Aaron Harmon had 10.

The Trojans trailed just 20-17 after one quarter, but Lyon took a 36-27 to halftime.

Lyon led 63-48 through three quarters.

The Lyons will play their first 5th District game on Friday when they travel to Crittenden County.
