When the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team lost to visiting Jo Byrns by 15 points last season, then-freshman Jamison Glass failed to get on the scoresheet. Fast-forward a year and Glass had his fingerprints all over the rematch on Monday, posting a game-high 19 points to help the Rebels overcome cold shooting in the 4th quarter and claim a 44-42 victory.
It was another Rebel big man leading the charge early on as Anthony Johnson scored six 1st-quarter points and Todd Central’s defense held Jo Byrns to single digits for a 13-7 advantage.
Glass got going with six points in the 2nd quarter, but Kenny Tolliver answered with five to keep the Red Devils in striking distance at 27-19 at the halftime break.
Jo Byrns continued to push the Rebels behind seven points in the 3rd quarter for Ryan Dowlen, but Glass added six more to his total to maintain a seven-point edge with a quarter to play.
Todd Central left the door open with missed free throws, only managing to hit 3/10 in the 4th quarter and 8/22 for the game. Tolliver scored four of the Red Devils 10 over the final eight minutes, but the comeback fell a basket short.
Todd County Central will look to move to 3-1 when they host Monroe County on Saturday.
