Caldwell Matmen Go 4-1 at Illinois Dual Tournament

The Caldwell County Tiger wrestling team continues to perform well early in the season, going 4-1 in dual action at the Neal Wilson Invitational at Benton High School in Illinois on Saturday.

The Tigers defeated Effingham, Ill. 51-6.

Picking up wins by pins for Caldwell were Logan Brown at 106 pounds, Collin Teutsch at 126, Riley Johnson at 138, Dylan Walls at 170, Colin Walls at 182 and Cole Sherill at 285.

Cofy Walls won by decision at 132.

The only points Caldwell gave up were due to a forfeit.

The Tigers’ only loss of the day came to Tolono Unity by a 48-30 score.

Winning by pin for Caldwell were Logan Brown at 106, Andre Carter at 113, Riley Johnson at 132 and Dylan Walls at 170.

Winning by decision were Collin Teutsch at 120 and Cofy Walls at 126.
Unity went on to win the tournament.

Caldwell defeated host Benton 54-18.

The Tigers won eight matches by pin in that matchup — Logan Brown at 106, Andre Carter at 113, Collin Teutsch at 120, Cofy Walls at 126, Riley Johnson at 132, Dylan Walls at 182, Colin Walls at 195 and Cole Sherill at 285.

Preston Rogers won by forfeit at 220.

Caldwell defeated Unity’s ‘B’ team 48-30.

Earning wins by pin in that match were Collin Teutsch at 120, Cofy Walls at 132, Riley Johnson at 138, Dylan Walls at 170, Colin Walls at 182 and Cole Sherill at 285.

The Tigers defeated Camp Point, Ill. 40-23.

Winning by pin for Caldwell were Logan Brown at 106, Collin Teutsch at 120, Cofy Walls at 126, Riley Johnson at 132 and Cole Sherill at 285.
Dylan Walls won by decision at 170.

Caldwell County’s wrestling matches this week are still on.

The Tigers will go to Daviess County on Thursday for a tri-match that also includes John Hardin.

Caldwell will then host its annual Armstrong Tiger Classic, which gets underway Saturday morning at the CAB gym.
