Matt Wills is in the midst of a historic senior year at Heritage Christian Academy, helping the Warriors capture their first-ever KCAA soccer state title in the fall and now chasing another championship on the hardwood. In addition, Wills and the Warriors are transitioning to the KHSAA, testing themselves against some of the best competition the area offers.

Wills, a goalkeeper, helped the Warriors to an undefeated season on the pitch, going 6-0-1 against KCAA teams with six shutouts, including a 1-0 victory in the state-title matchup with Assumption. HCA also picked up a pair of KHSAA victories over North Hardin Classical and Christian County. The Warriors yielded only two goals in their KCAA campaign and were victorious in the KHSAA games by a combined score of 8-3. In addition, Wills took home the Christian Character Award at the team’s annual banquet at the end of the season.

Wills is making his mark on the basketball court as well, averaging a shade over 10 points per game with a team-high eight made three-pointers in seven games against KHSAA teams. He’s also first in free throw percentage at 87.5% and chips in 2.3 rebounds per outing.

Coming off a blowout win over Fort Campbell in their last game, the Warriors are 3-4 against KHSAA teams, with three losses coming against 2nd Region heavyweights Madisonville-North Hopkins, Henderson County, and University Heights Academy.

As they search for their first title since the 2012-13 season, the Warriors are undefeated against KCAA basketball teams with an average margin of victory of just under 25 points.
