After collecting a single win over the first month of the basketball season, the UHA Lady Blazers picked up their second in as many tries on Saturday with a come-from-behind 45-43 victory over visiting Evansville Christian School.

After posting their highest scoring total of the season last time out, Brianna Daniel and Alecia Davis reached double figures to help the Lady Blazers tie their second-best scoring performance and improve to 3-8 overall.

UHA trailed 7-3 midway through the opening quarter before Amaryia Bass capped a 7-0 run with a layup to put the Lady Blazers in front.

Hannah Schmidt scored seven 2nd-quarter points for Evansville Christian to match the Lady Blazers’ output and give the Eagles a 21-17 halftime advantage.

UHA opened the 2nd half on a 7-2 spurt to move in front at 24-23 and they still led by a point with a minute left in the quarter.  Tina Greer scored six in the frame and her basket in the paint in the final seconds gave the Eagles a 1-point edge with a quarter to play.

Daniel’s second 3-pointer of the 4th gave UHA a 42-37 lead with just under two minutes left, but Evansville Christian was back within a point after a pair of fouls and a technical on the Lady Blazers.

The last of Greer’s game-high 19 points trimmed the UHA lead to 44-43 with :25 on the clock.  The Lady Blazers twice came up empty at the free-throw line to leave the door open, but the Eagles couldn’t secure the rebounds and UHA held on for the win.
