Crittenden County made a second-half run, but came up just a little short in a 51-42 setback to Mayfield in the Western Kentucky Showcase Saturday in Marion.
The Rockets (6-6) fell behind by 15 points, 26-11, in the second quarter and trailed 26-17 at halftime.
Mayfield (6-2) took a 37-29 lead to the fourth quarter. Crittenden crept within five points at 45-40, but the Cardinals would let the Rockets get no closer.
Sam Stone’s 18 points paced Mayfield.
Preston Morgeson led Crittenden with 15 points.
