Madisonville wasted no time jumping on top of Trigg County Monday, scoring three seconds into the game and coasting into a 74-41 win over the Lady Wildcats at Wildcat Gym.

The Lady Maroons won the opening tip, and Camryn LaGrange fed Riley Sword who cut to the basket for a layup that took just three seconds to complete. That was a microcosm of the night as the Lady Maroons led 25-4 after one quarter.

Madisonville boosted the score to 34-4 with 5:56 left in the half. Emilee Hallum scored 14 of her 16 points in the opening quarter, knocking down four 3-pointers.

Trigg County found its footing midway through the second quarter as Marleigh Reynolds scored eight points and Tajah Grubbs knocked down a 3-pointer to get the Lady Wildcats to within 47-31 with 2:26 left.

LaGrange sparked a 13-2 run to end the quarter with five points and two assists. Katelyn McGowan came off the bench to score six points during the decisive run. Madisonville extended its lead to as many as 39 points in the fourth quarter as the game ended with a running clock.

LaGrange led the Lady Maroons with 18 points, seven assists, and six rebounds. Hallum and Destiny Whitsell each finished with 16 points, and Amari Lovan had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Madisonville outrebounded Trigg 30-24 and had nine second-chance points off nine offensive rebounds.

Trigg County struggled again with turnovers, as Madisonville scored 28 points off 24 Trigg miscues. Olivia Noffsinger had 17 points for the Lady Wildcats, and Reynolds added 16 points. Kara Hyde was the lone player in double figures in rebounds with 11.

Coming on the heels of a 31-point loss to Union County Saturday, it’s the first time in four years that Trigg County has suffered back-to-back 30-plus point losses to region opponents.

Madisonville approved to 11-2 overall and 7-0 against region opposition. The Lady Maroons entered the game No. 2 in the region according to the KHSAA RPI.

Trigg County has dropped three of four and sees its season record even at 7-7. Trigg will host Heritage Christian Academy Tuesday night at Wildcat Gym in the first-ever meeting between the schools.
