Demarius Dixon made one of two free throws with five seconds left in the game to give the Henderson County Colonels a come from behind 36-35 win over the Christian County Colonels Tuesday night in Henderson. Dixon was fouled after snagging the rebound on a missed shot attempt from Christian County.

The game was a low-scoring, defensive battle from the very beginning. Christian County limited Henderson County to just four points in the first quarter as the southern Colonels took a 9-4 lead.

Henderson found a bit of offense in the second quarter as they battled back to within one at 19-18 going into the half. Breland Morrison and Jordan Miles combined to score 11 of Christian County’s 19 points in the first two quarters.

Christian County looked to have things going their way again in the third quarter. The southern Colonels outscore Henderson County 12-8 in the quarter to push the lead back out to 31-26 heading into the final quarter.

Christian County’s offense would then struggle to put points on the board in the final quarter as Henderson County fought back to tie the game at 35-35 inside the final minute, setting up Demarius Dixon’s game-winning free throw.

Daverion Gilmore would lead the way for Christian County with 11 points. Jordan Miles ended the night with nine.

For Henderson County, Gerard Thomas had 12 points. Zander Wilson and Jake Rideout added 8 points each.

Christian County drops to 4-9 with the loss. The Colonels are set to return to action Friday in the Evansville Harrison Warrior Showcase.
