Employing a suffocating full-court press and some strong play in the paint, the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers blasted hosts Dawson Springs 69-29 on Thursday night.

The Lady Tigers enjoyed their second-highest scoring game and most lopsided win of the season to improve to 5-5 overall.  They will return to the court on Tuesday when they get a visit from Northwest, TN.

The Lady Panthers slip to 2-8 with Ballard Memorial scheduled to make its way to Dawson Springs on Saturday.

It was all Lady Tigers in the 1st quarter, with Donnisha Flowers posting nine points and Ja’Chia Pendleton and Shaterrea Bellamy each scoring six for a 20-4 advantage.

Flowers reached double figures with five more points and LaTaijha Cherry chipped in four in the 2nd quarter to send Hoptown to the locker room at the half with a 33-11 lead.

Gracie Harper knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for half of the Lady Panthers’ 3rd quarter points, but the Lady Tigers continued to pour it on behind nine combined points for Cherry and LaShanti Wilson.

Cherry capped her 16-point night with six more in the 4th and the Lady Tigers triggered the running clock midway through the quarter.  Hoptown’s final 40-point margin was its largest lead of the night.

Flowers led all scorers with 19 and Cherry had 16 for the Lady Tigers.  Harper was the lone Lady Panther in double figures with 12.
