11-0 Run Lifts Livingston’s Girls Past Caldwell in All A Semifinals

Livingston Central used an 11-0 run in the third quarter to erase a 27-22 deficit and take the lead for good in a 50-38 win over Caldwell County Thursday night in the girls’ 2nd Region All A Classic semifinals in Eddyville.

The Lady Cardinals (4-6) will face host Lyon County for the championship on Saturday. That game is set for 4:00.

The Lady Lyons advanced with a 65-55 overtime victory over Crittenden County on Thursday.

Caldwell (3-10) trailed by as much as six points on three occasions in the first half before the Lady Tigers pulled to within 21-18 at the break.

A layup by Brylee Butts gave Caldwell the lead at 22-21. A 3-pointer by Butts gave the Lady Tigers their 27-22 advantage with 3:28 left in the third quarter.

But Livingston rallied behind 3-pointers from Mikaela Holman and Aubrey Leahy.

That was part of 11 straight points by the Lady Cardinals that gave Livingston a 33-27 lead late in the third period.

Caldwell crept back to within three, 35-32, when Morgan Aikins scored on a baseline drive with still 5:35 left in the contest.

But the Lady Tigers could get no closer.

Victoria Joiner had 17 points to lead Livingston. Leahy added 11 while Holman finished with 10.

Parris Gray topped Caldwell with 15 points. Katy Smiley added 11 points and eight rebounds.
