Butler County Moves to 12-1 With Win Over Lady Blazers

Butler County’s girls improved to 12-1 and won for the sixth-straight time when they picked up a 74-32 victory at University Heights Academy Saturday afternoon.

Four Lady Bears scored in double figures as Butler used a balanced attack to hand the Lady Blazers their third-straight setback.

Taylin Clark had 17 points for Butler to lead all scorers. Jaelyn Taylor finished with 12 points, while Gracie Cardwell and Graci Leach each had 11. Taylor Leach added eight points.

The game was tied 2-2 early before a 17-3 run quickly extended the margin to 19-5 and put the Lady Bears in control of the contest.

Butler, which has nine seniors listed on its KHSAA roster, took a 37-15 lead to halftime.

The Lady Bears led 53-30 through three quarters, and reached the 35-point running-clock mercy rule at 67-32 on a three-point play by Cardwell with 4:37 remaining in the contest.

UHA (3-11) was led by 13 points from Alicia Davis. Breanna Daniel finished with nine.
