Lyons Return to All A Regional Final by Routing HCA

Travis Perry and Jackson Shoulders combined for 53 points as Lyon County turned back Heritage Christian Academy 96-54 in the 2nd Region All A Classic semifinals.

Lyon (9-4), the defending champion, will face Caldwell County (11-3) in Saturday’s 7 p.m. championship game at University Heights Academy in Hopkinsville. The Tigers eliminated the host school 87-78 in Friday’s semifinals.

The Lyons never trailed against Heritage Christian. The Hopkinsville private school was making its first appearance in the All A Classic and is on its way to becoming a full member of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.

The Warriors (11-8) tried to hang close early, but Lyon opened up a 24-12 lead after 8 minutes.

Lyon then blew the game open in the second period. The margin grew to 31 points before the Lyons took a 53-29 advantage to halftime.

Lyon hit the 35-point mercy rule for a running clock in the third period and took a 79-38 advantage to the final frame.

Lyon reserves saw lots of action in the contest as the Lyons won their fourth straight game overall.

Perry was just under his 28.4 points a game average with 27 points. Shoulders eclipsed his 20.4-point average with 26.

The Lyons also got 13 points from Brady Shoulders and 10 from Jack Reddick. Gunnar Bingham added eight points.

Matt Wills led HCA with 12 points. Jason Leek added 10 and Weston Powell had eight.
