Colonel Wrestlers Take Second Place at Laker Invitational

Christian County finished in second place Saturday at the Calloway County Laker Wrestling Invitational in Murray.

The Colonels had 193.5 points, which was 16 points behind first place McCracken County. Kenwood was third with 101 points.

Christian County had three wrestlers win first place. Ashton Smith won all four of his matches to claim first place in the 106-pound division. He defeated Jacob Jones of Calloway County by a 14-11 decision in the championship match.

JaRi Campbell also finished first in the 113-pound class. He won by technical fall over Paducah Tilghman’s Jayven Williams in the title match.

Mason Kellett won the 150-pound class with a fall over McCracken County’s Braden Howard in the championship match.

A.J. Harvey won all four of his matches Saturday, including the championship match over Trigg County’s Andrew Hendricks in the championship of the 285-pound class.

Kalen Nenoff took third place with a fall over Hopkinsville’s Juan Cannon. Tay Martinez also finished in third place in the 120-pound class.

Haydon Merrick was second at 138, and Ryan Hines finished in third place in the 138-pound class. In the 144-pound class, Andrew Barton finished in third place. Jacob Newby also scored a third place finish at 157. Lelan Lee was fourth at 165, and Omarion Wimberley was second at 190. Clayton Fernandez brought home a fourth-place finish at 2:15.
