Trigg County Sinks 11 Threes in District Win

1-17-alexander

Trigg County hit eleven 3-pointers and led wire to wire to beat Livingston Central 57-37 Monday at Wildcat Gym.

Five different Lady Wildcats hit a trey as they fell two short of the school record of 13 three-pointers set against Providence in 1991.

Olivia Noffsinger hit three threes in the first quarter as the Lady Wildcats built a 10-2 lead. Trigg had trouble getting the ball inside against Livingston’s zone and settled for 18 three-point attempts in the first half, hitting five.

Meanwhile, the Lady Cardinals struggled to find the basket, missing 24 of their 26 shot attempts in the half. Livingston head coach Lisa Corley reached her boiling point in the second quarter, protesting what she felt was a no-call on a blocked shot and getting tossed after two technical fouls.

Trigg led 22-9 at halftime and extended its lead in the third quarter as they shot 9 of 15 from the field and 5 of 7 behind the arc.

The Lady Wildcats led by as many as 29 points before the scrappy Lady Cardinals team got back to within 20 by the final horn.

Noffsinger led the Lady Wildcats with 16 points and three assists. Marleigh Reynolds added 11 points and 14 rebounds.

Trigg County got solid production off the bench as Evonna McGee knocked down three 3-pointers for 11 points. Audrey Alexander added eight points and five rebounds as Trigg’s bench scored 22 points.

Victoria Joiner led Livingston Central with 18 points, six rebounds, and four steals. Emersyn Ramage only scored three points but pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds. Aubrey Leahy added nine points.

The teams will play again in 10 days in Smithland.
