Rebels Cage Cougars in 13th District Battle (w/PHOTOS)

Many times records go out the window when district rivals meet and that was the case on Friday when the 14-3 Todd County Central Rebels visited the 0-15 Logan County Cougars in a 13th-District matchup.

The Rebels found points hard to come by against Logan County’s zone defense before finally getting some breathing room in the 3rd quarter on the way to a 52-43 victory.  Todd County moves to 1-0 in district play while the Cougars slip to 0-3.

Jamison Glass scored four points to give the Rebels an early advantage and they led 11-6 after the 1st quarter.

With the Rebels leading by five with three minutes to play in the 1st half, Jack Delaney scored four points to fuel a 6-0 spurt that gave Logan County a 1-point edge.  However, Preston Moore answered with a 3-pointer for the last points of the half and a 19-17 halftime lead.

Glass scored all six of his 3rd-quarter points in a two-minute span to put the Rebels up 31-23.  After the Cougars had cut it to five, Preston Rager knocked down a 3 and Amari Andrews scored on a putback to close the quarter and give the Rebels’ their first double-digit lead at 36-26.

The margin swelled to 15 early in the 4th, but JunVontre Dillard scored seven down the stretch for the Cougars, including a 3-point play to to cut it to 45-39 with 1:53 to play.  Todd Central responded with five straight, capped by Moore’s second 3 of the frame, to seal the victory.

Moore led all scorers with 17 and Glass was next for the Rebels with 13.  Dillard was the lone Cougar in double figures with 14, including nine in the 4th.
