Caldwell Takes Runner-Up at Tilghman Invitational

Caldwell County took second place Saturday at the Steve Johnson Memorial Wrestling Invitational hosted by Paducah Tilghman High School.

The Tigers totaled 200.5 points to finish behind Louisville Trinity, who won the event with 231 points. Anna-Jonesboro was third and Paducah Tilghman finished in fourth place.

Caldwell County had five wrestlers claim first place on the day. Collin Teutsch claimed the title in the 120-pound match. After winning four matches, Teutsch, ranked ninth in the class statewide, took the championship by injury default over Trinity’s Morgan Frederick.

Cofy Walls defeated Fort Campbell‘s Brock Sharp to win the championship in the 126-pound class. Walls entered the day ranked 11th in the state and Sharp is 23rd.

Third-ranked Riley Johnson remained unbeaten this year in the 132-pound class. He won four of his five matches by fall, including the championship match in 28 seconds over Ohio County’s Petey Graham.

Seventh-ranked Dylan Walls won his first four matches of the day in the 165-pound class and won the championship with a 15-5 major decision over Trinity’s Jonathon Phillips, who is ranked fifth.

Cole Sherrill, who entered Saturday ranked eighth in the 285-pound class, defeated sixth-ranked Matt Mooney of Paducah Tilghman in 1:51 to win the class.

Colin Walls took second place in the 175-pound class. The Tiger senior, ranked fifth in the state, lost to top-ranked Lane Kiser in the title match.

Logan Brown finished second in the 106-pound class. Andre Carter was fourth in the 113-pound class. Timothy Nichols took fifth place in the 138-pound class. Jackson Riley finished seventh in the 144-pound class, and Preston Rogers was seventh in the 215-pound class.
