Caldwell’s Girls Use Balanced Effort to Dispatch Dawson

Caldwell County’s girls scored the first seven points of the night and never trailed while dispatching Dawson Springs 71-47 Tuesday night in a 7th District matchup in Princeton.

The Lady Tigers led 22-11 after one quarter and 40-21 at halftime on the way to beating the Lady Panthers for the third time this season.

Caldwell, at one time 0-6, is now 10-12 overall this season and 2-3 in the district.

The Lady Tigers, who are 6-2 in their last eight games, used a balanced offensive effort to top Dawson Springs.

Presley McKinney led Caldwell with 13 points while Katy Smiley, A.J. Hollowell and Parris Gray each had 12. Brylee Butts had eight points.

Dawson, now 6-13 and 0-6, got 18 points from Abby Ward and 11 from Gracie Harper.

It was Caldwell’s ninth straight win over Dawson going back to February of 2018. The Lady Tigers have taken 24 of the last 25 matchups and now lead the all-time series 88-10.

Caldwell, weather permitting, will next host Madisonville-North Hopkins as part of a girls and boys district doubleheader on Friday.

Dawson is scheduled to go to Crittenden County on Friday.
