Caldwell’s Long Signs With Kentucky Wesleyan (w/VIDEO, PHOTOS)

Caldwell County senior Angel Long will continue his football career at Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro.

Long and Tiger teammate Blake Vivrette, a kicker, both signed with KWC in a joint ceremony on Wednesday afternoon in the Fine Arts Theatre at CCHS.

The duo helped the Tiger football team go 7-4 last season.

Long, who played on both sides of the football at Caldwell, made 42 tackles from his defensive line spot this past season including four tackles for loss. He had one fumble recovery.

As a junior, Long recorded 38 tackles, with eight tackles for loss and three sacks. He had one fumble recovery in the 2020 season.

He will play on the defensive line at Kentucky Wesleyan.

Kentucky Wesleyan is an NCAA Div. II school which competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. The Panthers went 3-8 last season.

The school announced 33 signees on Wednesday.

“I’m extremely excited about our 2022 recruiting class” said KWC head coach Craig Yeast, a former star receiver at the University of Kentucky. “Our coaching staff has done a tremendous job of identifying talent that fits our schemes and builds relationships throughout the process. We addressed several needs on offense, defense, and special teams, as well as provided much needed roster depth. I’m excited about the high level of the athletes and the quality of the young men that we have added to our program, we aren’t done yet! Paws up!”

Other area players headed to Kentucky Wesleyan include Chase Wells (Todd County Central) and Dylan Yates (Crittenden County).

Angel is the son of Terry and Mary Beth Long.
