Remember the talk about Mississippi State being a trap game for Kentucky coming between games at Auburn and Kansas, both top five teams at the time. Kentucky needed overtime to beat State. Now the same scenario could be in play tonight when UK hosts Vanderbilt. The Cats are coming off a dominating win at Kansas and face a huge road game at Alabama Saturday night.

Coach John Calipari worried on his weekly radio show Monday night about how his team would handle prosperity. Assistant coach Chin Coleman said Tuesday not to worry.

“I have personally texted a couple of guys right after (the game) and again yesterday so we can defend against letdowns,” Coleman said. “We didn’t come this far just to come this far. We came this far to go further.

“We have a veteran group. We can get better. We are going to defend against any letdown. Coach Calipari is not going to let that happen.”

Plus, Coleman said as good as UK was against Kansas, it can still be better.

“There has never been a perfect game played,” Coleman said. “We coach where the glass is half full and we are always trying to fill it. We continue to try and get better because we can.

“We played an unbelievable game (at Kansas). Let’s see if we can do it again and again and again. That’s always the challenge to see how great we can become.”

    1. Cal has needed an assist that will point out the mistakes that Cal makes over and over. Barbee and Justus just sit on their hands and got paid.
I think Coleman is the main reason this team plays for one another. Coleman is making Cal look good.
