Inclement weather and potentially hazardous travel Saturday morning caused the Region I swim meet to be postponed a day to Sunday at Hopkinsville High School’s Rick Cohn Aquatic Center.
Sunday’s meet will be a timed final meaning just one swim in each race. It will begin at 2:30. Saturday’s original schedule had preliminaries scheduled for the morning and afternoon and the finals at night.
All nine swim regions in the state were forced to postpone due to weather. Region 2 completed its girls’ preliminaries Tuesday. The boys’ prelims will be Saturday and the finals Sunday in Owensboro.
The boys’ state swim meet will be Friday, Feb. 18 with the girls’ state meet the next day. Both will be held at the Lancaster Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Kentucky.
