Fort Campbell to Send Two Wrestlers to Semi State Round

Fort Campbell qualified two wrestlers for next week’s semi-state tournament after the team’s best finish at the region in five years Saturday.

Maliq Cosby, who brought an 8-7 record into the region meet, won three matches and finished in third place. He defeated Henderson County’s Dylan Bishop 16-9 in the third place match.

Chance Bryant took third place in the 106-pound division. He defeated Christian County’s Ashton Smith in the quarterfinal before losing to eventual champion Jayden Rainey in the semifinals. After a wild 16-15 win over Calloway County’s Jacob Jones in the consolation semifinal, he dropped his rematch with Smith in the third place match.

The Falcons had a pair of wrestlers finish in fifth place, and they will be alternates for the semi-state tournament. Brock Sharp won his fifth place match over Hopkinsville‘s Holden Schneider with a pin in 2:04 of the match.

Dylan Linnemeier won his fifth place match over Daviess County’s Keegan Doyle in a 19-4 decision.

Keshawn Dixon finished in sixth place in the 165-pound class.

Fort Campbell finished with 78 points, the most for the team at the region meet since 2017.

The semi-state round will be held Saturday at Union County high school.
