After seeing a six-game winning run come to an end at the hands of Bowling Green in their last time out, the Lyon County Lyons bounced back in a big way on Tuesday with a 74-44 victory over visiting Dawson Springs.

The win is the 20th of the season against six losses for the Lyons, while the Panthers drop their seventh straight to slip to 3-25 overall.

Jackson Shoulders had nine 1st-quarter points, and his 3-pointer put the Lyons up 15-6.  Travis Perry was also hot for the Lyons, and he closed a 12-point frame with an off-balance 3 at the buzzer for a 21-10 advantage.

Shoulders and Perry combined for 10 in the 2nd, and Warren Parker added six for the Lyons.  Parker’s second 3-pointer stretched the margin to 23 before Dawson Springs’ Dilyn Skinner nailed a buzzer-beating 3 to cap his seven-point quarter.

Lyon County doubled-up the Panthers in the 3rd behind six from Perry and five for Jack Reddick.  Rett Nieters had six for the Panthers, but they trailed 68-37 with a quarter to play.

A Shoulders steal, and layup triggered the running clock early in the 4th and the Lyons coasted in from there.

Perry’s 24 led all scorers, followed by Shoulders with 21 and Reddick with 10.

Nieters finished with 16 for the Panthers and Skinner had 15.

Lyon County will head to Webster County on Thursday before a visit from Hopkins County Central on Friday.
