Noffsinger Notches 1,000th Point in Trigg Win

2-18-noffsinger

Trigg County will head into next week’s district tournament with a 16-12 record after dispatching University Heights Academy 59-31 Friday in Hopkinsville.

Lady Wildcat guard Olivia Noffsinger scored 17 points to become the 16th member of the 1,000-point club at Trigg County and second this season. Marleigh Reynolds eclipsed the milestone last month.

Trigg County scored the first 15 points of the game although it was without Noffsinger who knocked knees with a UHA player 30 seconds into the game and left for the remainder of the quarter.

After Trigg built the lead to 22-2, UHA played even with the Lady Wildcats over the next quarter-and-a-half.  UHA got as close as 14 points in the fourth quarter, but Trigg ended the game with a 17-3 run.

In addition to Noffsinger’s 17 points, Audrey Alexander scored 12 points, and Marleigh Reynolds scored 10. Kara Hyde just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.

Alicia Davis led UHA with 10 points, and Lee Lee Love added six points and 10 rebounds. Amaryia Bass scored seven points and pulled down five rebounds.

Trigg County will play Lyon County Monday in the 5th District semifinals at Crittenden County.

University Heights Academy will play Christian County Monday in the 8th District semifinals at Hopkinsville High.
