Chick-fil-A ‘Triple-A’ – Todd County Central’s Madi Harrison

It’s safe to say that competition drives Todd County Central freshman Madi Harrison.

The competition begins at home with a brother who plays basketball and a sister who, like herself, cheers. The competition also carries over to her clubs where she is active in four in just her first year of high school.

Harrison has been cheering since she was three years old. She says she loves being on the sidelines and competing. The Lady Rebel cheerleading squad is one of the most active in western Kentucky and has won several awards and competitions in recent years.

Harrison also competes for the Todd County Central High School Beta Club where she recently won first place in the state in apparel design. Harrison made a jacket in the theme of “Beta Together.” She says the multiple areas of artwork on the jacket took a couple of weeks to complete. She gave credit to her grandmother who Harrison said is very much into crafts and that expertise proved beneficial to her.

Harrison will enter the jacket in the national competition over the summer.

She also is a member of the Todd County Central High High School FFA chapter and competes in parliamentary procedure — a competition that encourages students to develop leadership and speaking skills.  Some will tell you that Madi is a good debater while others will tell you she just likes to argue. Harrison agrees with both and feels that puts her at the top of her game. Harrison will compete at the state competition next month.

She is also involved in Rebels in Christ, a group that meets every Tuesday morning and has a devotion before the start of school.

Harrison enjoys the opportunities the clubs give her and feels like they will open doors for her future. She is a 4.0 student and was the top honors student in her eighth-grade year.

Her plans are to go into nursing after high school and college, but first, she wants to try and win as many competitions as she can. And given her competitive spirit and drive, it’s not wise to bet against her.

Madi Harrison won the state apparel competition for high school beta clubs across the state. She will compete at the national level later this year.
