St. Martin’s Big Game Lifts Lady Warriors in Super Regional Win

Kate St. Martin was named to the KCAA Super Region All-Tournament Team.

The Lady Warriors of Heritage Christian Academy moved into the KCAA Super Regional semifinals Friday and as a result, improved its seeding for this weekend’s state basketball tournament.

Heritage rallied to beat North Hardin Classical 36-32 and Friday’s quarterfinal game. Kate St. Martin scored nine of Heritage’s 11 points in the fourth quarter to spark the rally. She also hit a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter and finished with a career-high 20 points.

Bailey Craft added seven points and six steals, and Liana Carr had six points, including a steal and bucket late to secure the win. Heritage Christian helped itself by hitting 14 of 19 at the free throw line compared to North Hardin missing all eight of its free throw attempts in the final eight minutes.

Heritage fell to Micah Christian 59-28 in the semi-finals Saturday. Micah scored 27 of its 59 points in the fourth quarter as they outscored HCA 27-14.

Craft led the Lady Warriors with 14 points and 13 rebounds. St. Martin scored all eight of her points in the final frame. Tori Sutton had two points and eight rebounds.

Heritage Christian will open play in the KCAA State Tournament Thursday as the No. 6 seed. They will play three-seed Lakeside Christian at West Jessamine High School. The Lady Warriors lost to Lakeside 51-30 on January 29 in Hopkinsville.
