Caldwell County senior Jabrion Spikes finished his high school basketball career at No. 6 on the Tigers’ all-time scoring list.

Spikes entered the 7th District tournament last week needing 10 points to pass Timmy Riley and move up a spot on the career scoring chart. He had 35 in the Tigers’ loss to Hopkins County Central in the semifinals of the district tourney.

Spikes ends up with 1,434 career points in a Tiger uniform.

Spikes scored 860 points this season, which is the second-most ever for a Tiger. Only Matt Fraliex, with 872 points in the 2006-07 season, scored more points in a single season.

Spikes’ 319 made field goals are a school record, topping the 288 made by Michael Fraliex in the 1991-92 season.

Spikes’ 558 field goal attempts are second behind the 575 attempts by Fraliex in that same season.

Spikes is 10th on the field goal percentage list, shooting 57.2 percent from the floor this season. (Dewey Riley finished second on that list, making 70 of 111 attempts this season for 63.1 percent. Danny Rascoe holds that record at 64.4 percent in the 1962-63 season.)

With nine rebounds in his final game, Spikes also moved into the Top 10 on Caldwell’s all-time rebounding list. He is No. 10 with 537 career rebounds.

Spikes is third on Caldwell’s single-season rebounding list with 334 this season.

Spikes ends the year averaging 30.7 points a game. That is second all-time at Caldwell behind Matt Fraliex’s 32.3 points a game during his big season.

Spikes is one of only three players in the state this season to average over 30 points a game.

Caldwell finished the year with an 18-11 record.

Following his final game as a Tiger last week, Spikes signed his shoes and presented them to youngster Jase Sigler. YSE was there and has video.
