Jacob Brandon has been a part of an athletic renaissance at Todd County Central for the last couple of years, helping the baseball and basketball teams to historic seasons while also leading the Rebel golf team.

On the diamond as a sophomore, Jacob posted team-highs in batting average (.390) and RBI (31), and was second in hits (30), doubles (6), and walks (20).

He was also the Rebels’ go-to guy on the mound, leading the staff in starts with nine and tying in innings pitched with 42.  His 66 strikeouts also paced the Rebels, while only issuing 16 bases on balls.  Jacob posted a 6-3 record with a 1.67 ERA, helping the program to its first double-digit win total in over a decade at 22-10.

Todd Central looks poised to build on last year’s success as the 2022 season gets underway.  All but two starters return from the squad that closed the regular season with six-straight wins and fell just short against Logan County in the 13th-District tournament.

It’s been a historic year on the court as well, with the Rebels going from seven wins in 2020/21 to a 23-9 record and the program’s first All-A Region title in almost 20 seasons.  They finished within two points of a district title before seeing the campaign end with a loss in the 4th-Region tournament.

Jacob is also a standout golfer, leading the team at the region tournament this year with an 85 to finish 30th and help the Rebels to a 10th-place team finish.

Ahead of the Rebels’ region matchup with Warren Central on Thursday, Jacob talked about some of the people that helped him become a well-rounded athlete and his goal of playing baseball at the next level.
