Abigail McPherson was strong in the circle and added two hits and an RBI to help the Todd County Central softball team to a 4-2 win over Caldwell County on a blustery Saturday in Elkton.

The Lady Rebels move to 2-0 for the first time since 2016 ahead of a visit from West Creek, TN, on Monday.

Todd Central got to Caldwell starting pitcher Jackie Farmer in the bottom of the 1st, with McPherson helping her own cause with an RBI double and Jocelyn Mock singling in a run for a 2-0 lead.

Caldwell County tied things up after Brylee Butts’ two-out triple started a 3rd-inning rally.  Harper Holeman followed with an RBI single, and Alicia Stanley doubled to bring in a run for a 2-2 score.

Mock’s RBI single gave the Lady Rebels the lead in the bottom of the 3rd, and Addison Woodall and Lucy Cumbee started the bottom of the 4th with back-to-back singles before a run came home on Averie Luckenbill’s sacrifice bunt.

McPherson only allowed two base-runners the rest of the way, yielding two earned runs on four hits with a pair of walks and 10 strikeouts.

Farmer took the loss for Caldwell, working six innings and allowing four runs, only one earned, with a walk and three strikeouts.

Mock was 3 for 3 at the plate for the Lady Rebels and drove in two runs, and McPherson and Woodall had two hits each.

Butts, Holeman, Stanley, and Adley Lewis each had a hit for the Lady Tigers.

On Tuesday, Caldwell County welcomes Union County to Princeton looking to even its record at 2-2.
