Caldwell’s Girls Use 17-Hit Attack to Beat Union

Caldwell County hammered out 17 base hits and scored in every inning while dispatching Union County 12-4 Monday in Princeton.

The visiting Bravettes (1-3) led 2-0 and 3-2 early before three runs in the bottom of the second inning gave Caldwell the lead for good.

Harper Holeman had the big hit of the contest for the Lady Tigers, blasting a 1-0 pitch high over the fence in left-center for a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

That turned a 6-4 game into an 8-4 contest. Caldwell blanked Union over the final four innings to secure the win.

Illysa Stallins was not only the winning pitcher, but went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles and an RBI.

In the circle, Stallins allowed four earned runs on 11 base hits. She struck out one and walked none.

Rylee Thompson also went 3-for-4 and drove in a run.

Alicia Stanley was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI.

Laney Jones was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in.

A.J. Hollowell went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI.

Presley McKinney finished 2-for-4 with a run driven in.

For Union, Jaylee Meadors was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two runs batted in. Jaylen Tackett and Leah Hunley each had two hits

Caldwell, now 2-2, also beat Union 15-10 last week.

The Lady Tigers have taken four straight from the Bravettes.

Caldwell’s girls are scheduled to play at Lyon County on Tuesday while Union hosts 6th District foe Henderson County.
