Emma Talley is tied for 11th after one round of the JTBC Classic presented by Barbsol at Aviara Golf Club in Carlsbad, Calif.
Talley carded a 3-under-par 69 in first round action in the LPGA Tour event on Thursday.
Talley had birdies on three of her first eight holes in the opening round and was 3-under at the turn.
She bogeyed No. 14, but responded with a birdie on 15 and shot even par over the final nine holes.
Talley hit 10 of 14 fairways and 14 of 18 greens in regulation. She needed 28 putts over the first 18 holes of the tournament.
Talley is four shots behind leader Jin Young Ko, who fired a 7-under 65 in the first round. Nanna Koertz Madsen was 6-under and three other players are at 5-under.
Talley’s second round on Friday will begin on the No. 10 tee box at 3:28 p.m. Central time in the JTBC Classic.
