Last season, the Christian County Colonels picked up their sixth win on May 17. It took nowhere near that long for the Colonels to reach that number this year. The Christian County Colonels continued their blazing hot start to the season by taking down Crittenden County 4-2 Friday night in Marion. The win was the 7th straight for the Colonels to start the season.

The Colonels got a big pitching performance from Aiden Lewis to lead the way. Lewis went six innings, giving up two runs, none of them earned, on just two hits, striking out seven, while walking six

Baserunning has been a big factor for Christian County early in the season and it got the Colonels started Friday night. Preston Phan hit a one-out single in the top of the first and then advanced to second when Elijah Underhill reached on a Christian County error. Phan would steal third and then home, while Underhill would steal second and third and then score on a Rocket error to put the Colonels up early 2-0.

The Colonels were opportunistic again in the second inning. Jacob Jenkins reached base on a dropped third strike and then advanced all the way to third on an error. He would then score on a ground out to extend the lead to 3-0.

In the fifth, Preston Phan singled, stole second, and then scored on a single from Elijah Underhill to make it 4-0.

The Colonels would then hit a serious bump in the road in the bottom of the sixth. Crittenden County would take advantage of a walk, a hit batter, and two Christian County errors to score a pair of runs and cut the lead to 4-2. The Rockets had the tying runs on base, but Aiden Lewis was able to get out of the inning by striking out Seth Guess.

That would be the end of the rally for the night for the Rocket. Preston Phan took to the mound in the bottom of the 7th to close out the win for Christian County by setting the side down in order.

Elijah Underhill was 1-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Hayden Hunt was 1-2 with a double and an RBI. Caleb Moss, Preston Phan, and Brylle Javier also had hits for Christian County.

Casey Cates ended up 1-3 for Crittenden County with an RBI.

Christian County gets back to action Saturday with games against Calloway County and Trigg County.
