Abigail McPherson struck out 14 and the Todd County Central Lady Rebels broke a scoreless tie with a nine-run 5th inning to top visiting Glasgow 10-2 on Friday and advance to the 4th-Region All-A semifinals.

The Lady Rebels improve to 3-1 and hand the Lady Scotties (4-1) their first loss of the season.

Except for a single walk in the 3rd, McPherson was perfect in the circle through five innings, but the game was a scoreless tie. However, that changed in the bottom of the inning, beginning with back-to-back singles by Karli Herrera and Jocelyn Mock.

Lucy Cumbee drove in the first run on a fielder’s choice, followed by RBI singles by Dakotah Gammon and Sam Case. A bases-loaded walk, a run-scoring single for Mock, and a two-run error gave the Lady Rebels a 9-0 advantage.

McPherson surrendered her first two hits in the 6th, and Glasgow pushed a run across when Elleri Haynes stole home. The teams traded runs in the 7th for the final eight-run margin.

McPherson allowed two earned runs on three hits with three walks and 14 strikeouts.

Addison McCoy took the loss for the Lady Scotties, allowing 10 runs, seven earned, on 10 hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Herrera was 3/3 at the plate for Todd Central, Mock and Case each had two hits, and Gammon drove in three runs.

The Lady Rebels will be back on the field in Elkton on Saturday for a visit from Kenwood, TN.
