During the 2021 baseball season, the Christian County Colonels picked up a total of eight wins. It took the Colonels just two weeks of the 2022 season to pass that total.

Elijah Underhill struck out 12 and allowed just one run over five innings as the Colonels handled Calloway County 11-1 Saturday in the second of two games for Christian County. The Colonels had gotten by Trigg County 10-7 in their first game of the day.

Cadwell Turner’s first-inning home run gave Calloway County a very brief 1-0 lead. It would also be the last hit of the afternoon for the Lakers.

Elijah Underhill led off the bottom half of the inning with a blast to center to tie the game at 1-1. The Colonels then took advantage of a hit batter, two walks, and two Calloway County errors to plate four runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 5-1 lead.

Underhill would lead off with a walk in the bottom of the fourth. After being sacrificed to second, he would steal third and then steal home to make it 6-1. The Colonels would add two more runs on bases-loaded walks to extend the margin out to 8-1.

Christian County would then close out the game in the bottom of the fifth with RBI singles from Josh Snorton and Jacob Jenkins.

Underhill finished the game 1-1 with a home run, an RBI, and four runs scored. Josh Snorton was 2-3 with a double, 2 RBIs, and two runs scored.

On the mound, Underhill pitched all five innings, giving up one run on one hit, striking out 12, while walking just one.

The Colonels ran the Lakers ragged on the basepaths stealing 16 bases over the five innings of play.

Christian County is now 9-0 on the season. The Colonels are back in action Tuesday when they host Webster County.
