With a 2021 All-SKY 2nd team nomination under his belt after making his mark in all three phases for the Todd County Central football team, junior Nate Reding is undertaking a new challenge with the Rebel baseball team this spring.

Reding was a force on both sides of the ball and special teams as a junior, leading the team in catches (36), yards receiving (527), and receiving touchdowns (6).  On defense, he was third in total tackles (67) and made five tackles for loss with two forced fumbles, a recovery, and two interceptions.  He also handled kicking and punting duties for the Rebels, connecting on seven of eight PAT attempts.

With the baseball team returning all but two starters off their best squad in over a decade, Reding is making the move from the outfield to behind the plate to replace former standout catcher Ethan Bicksler.

The Rebels are off to another strong start at 7-1, and the position change hasn’t hurt him at the plate, as Reding’s hitting .444 with 11 RBI through seven games.  His batting average is over 200 points higher, and he’s already eclipsed last season’s RBI total.

As the Rebels prepare for a 4th-Region All-A semifinal matchup with Clinton County on Saturday and then hit the road to Florida for the Fort Walton Beach Blast, Reding talked about the move to catcher and his influence on the student section at Todd Central sporting events.
