Lady Rebels Split Wednesday Games in Florida

The Todd County Central Lady Rebels split its Wednesday games at the Softball Beach Bash at Fort Walton Beach.

Todd Central won its opener against Campbellsville 6-2 behind another strong pitching performance from Abby McPherson. The junior allowed eight hits and only walked one while striking out four. She also got the job done at the plate with a double and an RBI.

The Lady Rebels got on the board in the first inning when Sam Case singled, stole second, and then third. She scored on an Abby Williams squeeze bunt. Jocelyn Mock followed with an RBI single for a 2-0 Todd lead.

After the Lady Eagles got one run back in the fourth inning, Todd Central put the game on ice with a four-run sixth inning. Naomi Gammon singled and scored on a squeeze bunt put down by Brooklyn Alder.

Williams scored two runs with a single and then scored on McPherson’s double. Williams and Mock each had two hits for Todd Central with Williams driving in three runs.

In its second game of the day, Todd Central was held to two hits in a 10-1 loss to Bethlehem High of Bardstown.

The Banshees scored in every inning highlighted by four runs in the fourth inning.

The dimensions at Fort Walton Beach’s Preston Hood Athletic Complex played havoc with the Lady Rebel outfielders as the Bethlehem batters found gaps to the tune of five doubles and two triples in the contest. Freshman Paige Miller had two doubles, a triple, and three RBIs for the defending 19th District champions who improved to 7-2.

Todd Central plated its lone run of the game in the second inning when Jocelyn Mock induced a leadoff walk. After a sacrifice bunt, Naomi Welborn laced a double to right field that scored Mock. Naomi Gammon would add a single in the inning, but no other runs scored.

The Lady Rebels evened its record to 2-2 in Florida and 9-5 overall. They will close out play Friday against 14-0 Oldham County.
