4-15-mccrary

Kiley McCrary shook off a slow start, perhaps due to some rust, but settled down to retire seven of the final 10 batters she faced and help Fort Campbell defeat Heritage Christian Academy 18-3 Friday on post.

Fort Campbell was eliminated from the All A Classic region tournament Monday with a loss to Lyon County and Heritage Christian Academy, in its first season of playing against KHSAA competition, opted not to play in the All A this year.

McCrary struggled with control in the first inning as HCA, playing for the first time in nearly a month, scraped together three runs without the benefit of a hit. Five walks and a wild pitch saw the Lady Falcons fall in a 3-0 hole.

Fort Campbell answered with nine runs in the home half of the inning.  McCrary helped herself with an RBI single. Two bases-loaded walks gave the Lady Falcons a 5-3 lead.  Jordan Wilkerson plated a run with a single, and Hope Balzeski and Danika Gonzalez followed with RBI doubles.

Carrie McCrary and Allison Easley provided RBI singles in the second inning.

Kiley McCrary added another RBi double in the third to complete her two-hit, two-RBI night. Kenadi Dollar also had a pair of hits for the Lady Falcons, who improved to 2-6.

In the circle, McCrary struck out nine and didn’t allow a hit in the three-inning affair.

Rachel Robson reached base twice for HCA and stole three bases.
