Caldwell Girls Hold Off Lady Rockets in All-A Semis (w/PHOTOS)

The Caldwell County softball team raced out to a 5-0 lead and held off Crittenden County’s late-inning surge to advance to Monday’s 2nd-Region All-A title game against Lyon County with a 10-7 victory at Livingston Central on Saturday.

The Lady Tigers earn their third win in four games to improve to 8-4, while the Lady Rockets drop their third straight to slip to 5-9 ahead of a visit from Webster County on Monday.

Caldwell County jumped on top with a three-run triple by Adley Lewis in the bottom of the 1st, before stretching the advantage to 5-0 on an RBI single by AJ Hollowell in the 2nd.

The Lady Rockets cut the margin to two runs in the 4th after a two-run single by Callie Brown, but Caldwell answered with four runs in the bottom of the frame to lead 9-3.

Crittenden County made things interesting in the top of the 7th, pushing runs across on RBI singles by Hannah Jent and Brylee Conyer, but Caldwell’s Jackie Farmer coaxed a ground ball to finish off the complete-game victory.

Farmer allowed seven runs, three earned, on nine hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Lewis drove in six runs on two hits for Caldwell, and Laney Jones hit safely twice.

Anna Boone took the loss for Crittenden, allowing ten runs, three earned, on nine hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

Brylee Conyer and Callie Brown each had two hits for the Lady Rockets, and Brown drove in two runs.
