Riding the momentum of a 10-0 victory over Lyon County earlier in the afternoon, the Christian County Colonels capped a high-scoring Saturday with a 19-9 win over Trigg County.

The Colonels win their fourth straight to improve to 18-3 overall while Trigg County slips to 5-12.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd, Trigg surged in front with back-to-back RBI singles from Tyler Ahart and Haydon Reynolds.  The Colonels answered with a five-run 3rd, including an RBI double for Hayden Hunt and a run-scoring single by Gage Montes.

The Wildcats rallied to tie things up in the 3rd, with Ahart’s RBI single making it 7-7.  But Christian County blew the game open in the 4th, taking advantage of six walks, a hit-by-pitch, and an error to lead 15-7.

The Wildcats were charitable again in the 5th, committing three errors that led to three more Colonel runs.  Elijah Underhill capped the scoring with a solo home run to left field in the 6th, and Trigg went down in order in the bottom of the frame to end the game.

Hunt led the Colonels at the plate with four hits and five RBI, Montes was 2/4 with three runs driven in, and Underhill had two hits and two RBI.

Ahart finished 3/4 with four RBI for Trigg, and Haydon Reynolds had a pair of hits and a run driven in.

The Colonels have a few days off before returning to the field for a visit from UHA on Friday.  Trigg County heads to Lyon County on Tuesday for an 8th-District matchup.
