The sports Madelin Morrow plays are nestled inside interesting bookends.

The Trigg County High School senior was a team leader for the Lady Wildcat soccer team in the fall. Her aggressive play saw her net the first two goals of her career for the Lady Wildcats, who won the district title during her junior season.

In 2021, she added three assists as her speed was utilized at the front of the Trigg attack.

Once the fast-paced play of soccer ended, Morrow settled into archery. Patience. Precision. Concentration. Very little movement.

Morrow stepped away from archery after her freshman year and gave track and field a try. Like the improvement she made in archery, Morrow’s times and distances got better as the 2019 season wore on.

Then there was 2020 when there was nothing in the spring due to COVID-19.

After taking two years off from archery, Morrow returned in the fall to shoot the highest scores of her career.  She shot a career-high 285 at the Arrowcat Classic in February and followed it with a 283 to finish 80th out of 4,064 shooters at the NASP State Tournament in March.

Morrow added another 285 to her scorecard at the KHSAA Region 1 Tournament, placing her in fifth place.

She closed with a score of 279 at last week’s KHSAA State Archery Tournament to place 85th out of 293 shooters.

Once Morrow graduates high school next month, she plans to pursue a degree in a field similar to the feels of her athletic career – nursing.  She expects to go from 0 to 80 at the blink of a heartbeat monitor or code call.

It’s a move Morrow can’t wait to make.
